Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles season 1
God, what a waste of time! I can't imagine what will prompt me to watch the second season of this... murky water. I was so excited about Summer Glau in a TV show again (and oh how she delivered!) that I forgot to wish for good actors in the cast with her. She and Brian Ostin Green done a good job holding it all together, but, not being main characters, failed to make it really interesting. I can't help but wonder HOW the hell this got second season at all, how first one got semi-good ratings!
Eps. 1-01-05 or something.
Mother in extra-short skirt, looking barely 10 years older than her son (who, btw, looks totally eighteen!).
God, I hate this gesture, when police officer puts his hand on arrested person's head and pushes them into the car. Brrrr.
Wow, Cameron's sure insistent...
Mother seems to be awfully accepting of that Cameron.
Dear son, you're so indecisive that it's scares me to think that he was supposed to be that awesome John Connor. Of course, leadership is supposed to be mostly about delegating, right? So maybe that's what his skill is? Or maybe he'll, like, learn?
Okay, Cameron's wounds healing right away I can accept, but Sarah moving her arm freely after being shot into shoulder? Those are things that annoy me.
Ep. 1-06 "Dungeons & Dragons"
They open the door to the bunker without turning off the light there. That'll show their location very fast. They crawl out slowly and loudly. They drop stuff on top of the door, but not around it.
Removing the bullet apparently solves problem of the internal bleeding and damage.
Eps. 1-07 "The Demon Hand"
Very interesting double-view of Sarah walking the cemetery and Cameron walking the evidence room.
Also, only after seeing Agent's name in actual writing I was finally hit by realization: his name is JAMES ELLISON! Jim Ellison, hi thar, Sentinel!
Talk between Sarah and John about that tape: *GAG*. Come on, what's that about “I never wanted you to see that tape”?
Dear agent Ellison, how did it feel, to lock up a guy you KNEW wasn't ranting about some creation of his own paranoia?
The ending scene is amazing. Absolutely breath-taking.
Actually, I have to admit that aside from Sarah and John's scenes the episode was pretty decent.
Eps. 1-08-09 "Vick's Chip", "What He Beheld"
Last two episodes of the season, watched after a month. I couldn't bring myself to watch it. Sad.
But now it seems a little better: the only truly annoying character is Sarah. John is still whiny and meek, but he seems to be thinking better than his mom. Derek is still amazing: understandably untrusting, trying to set up a trap for Cameron, being bitchy to Connors... Cameron herself is a bit too human-like. More than she was before. Is she learning this fast?
Little things still make me annoyed though: video chip being too easy to access, cyborg touching things without gloves and being too obvious about doing... stuff – I mean, I understand he's less advanced model and probably doesn't know how to do it, but he did blend in all those years ago, why he doesn't bother to do it now?
WHY on Earth Sarah's looking at Cameron as if she said something completely out of place when she said that dead body is just that, a dead body, bones and meat? Didn't she ever meet a human who thought like that? I know a plenty. Couldn't she make a basic argument about respect even after death? After all respect she does understand, even if not in the same way humans do.
Oooh! Automatic traffic lights! Is it shout-out to Hackers?
The bombs exchange was nice. “We lived there, Kayle and I. AFTER they dropped bombs on us.”
Ahaha, John's watching real-life porn off the chip! Haha. Oooh, that awkward wink she gave him. And his eyes after, his slowly dawning understanding of her changing and evolving around them... Nice.
Sarah is fucking crazy. She's off her rocker and she's out of control. Every other thing sets her off, maybe because she's seemingly having a crisis of faith and she's not ready to admit that she having it. She's trusting Derek – Derek, who isn't even very familiar with this time! - to make the right decision, with trusting others and with blowing up walls, and with running or not running...
Oh, I have such a bad feeling about this virus and its effects!
Gosh, she's so awkward! Why go for kidneys when she had a chance of knocking him out with the hit to the base of his skull? And every move she makes during the fight? She stops after each one! Just PAUSES there! Come on, it's the end of the season, couldn't they train her to do it more smoothly?
What the hell, John you idiot! Are you completely stupid? How could you not turn it right off when you saw something's wrong? Cameron even WARNED you about it!
You know, I wonder very much how and why John Connor changed the way war was commencing. Was it because he didn't think that machines were all that bad after all and tried to understand them and, just like that, found a way to change the way they react to people, to change the way Skynet behaved around them?
Why Derek is so certain that John will be killed? Also, what if virus DID affect system after all? How will it affect Cameron?
Oooh, that latino woman is awesome. She, like, never spoke, but she's so, SO awesome and cool. She's doing much more than just a silent watcher. And it's so sweet how Cameron... feels close to her somehow. Someone who's never noticed, never trusted, never appreciated. Expecting to follow orders, not given a weapon. Close, eh?
I like how Derek's still unpleasant guy even if he remembers to do little nice things and has all those sweet and painful memories, and oh, how painful this baseball moment was! Very powerful and very... in tune with all this.
And the scene with Chromartie and FBI – oh god, what an effect, with nothing really seen, but the horror of this... slaughter – is still here, tangible. And the song. And Ellison, waiting for the shot from the monster he didn't believe in.
